Behavioural Change
Defining Behaviours
Behaviours are the things that we all do every day, many of which can affect our health. It might be helpful to think about behaviours that affect our health in two separate categories, “unhealthy” and “healthy”. Behaviours which would be considered “unhealthy” are those which are known to have a negative impact on our health. These might include smoking, eating foods high in salt, or sitting for long periods of time. By contrast, “healthy” behaviours are those that promote good health. Examples include exercising, eating fruit and vegetables, or taking medication.
Behavioural Change with
Florence Intelligent Health Messaging
However, stopping these “unhealthy” behaviours and/or starting or increasing “healthy” behaviours can be difficult. We also know that healthcare providers can struggle to support people to change their behaviours. At Florence, we aim to create behavioural change by helping both individuals and clinicians to make better health decisions.
We have adopted the Behaviour Change Wheel as our framework to understand Florence’s role in supporting behaviour change.
This means that we seek to understand the care pathways in which Florence will be used. This means that we can work with our customers to select, understand and co-design how Florence will support behaviour change, both for clinicians and patients.
Behavioural Change in Practice
To ensure that Florence is optimised for supporting behaviour change, we are also building the evidence for how our intelligent messaging solution works. As part of our Florence community, we will also be delivering training to help our customers understand how behavioural change can be applied in their day-to-day practice.
