Sean Davies, Deputy Directorate Manager at University Hospitals of North Midlands, discusses how Florence by Generated Health is used to remotely monitor and manage the health status of heart failure patients. With Florence risk stratification is happening in real time, enabling the clinical teams to better prioritise and select appropriate pathways. The result has been a 44% reduction in visits to A&E/ED (emergency department) and a 67% reduction in emergency re-admissions. There were also improvements in length-of-stay (LOS) and other quality metrics. Waiting lists have been reduced by over 50%. Overall, Florence delivered very significant cost savings to the health system. SMS text was found to reach all patient cohorts and the feedback from patients was excellent. Lastly, Mr Davies points out how simple the roll-out of the Florence platform was for both clinicians and administrators.
